| SPENDING EQUALS BANKRUPTCY—NOT GROWTH Thoughts by East Valley Voice Editor from article by David Limbaugh, THE WASHINGTON TIMES President Obama says that spending will jump start the economy. He said there would be immediate results. Now a year later we have over 10% unemployment. President Obama promised unemployment would not go over 8%. Does this cause a changed approach for stimulating the economy? It doesn’t seem to. He goes ahead with his nationally bankrupting health care and cap-and-trade plans, and is demanding $75,000 billion more to stimulate construction jobs. Unbelievable! Instead of creating private sector jobs as promised, it only increases the size of government. This is advantageous for President Obama and his socialist team and creates workers who will support keeping him in office. The media is beginning to see what is happening. The Associated Press just reported that 10 months into Obama’s stimulus plan, a surge in spending on roads and bridges has had no effect on local unemployment and only barely has helped the construction industry. Economists at five universities have confirmed that the stimulus strategy isn’t working. Besides, where does all this money come from? Congress does not have a vault of money waiting to be distributed. It either has to be borrowed or raised in taxes. No new earning or spending power is created. Only entrepreneurs in the private sector can do that. Instead foreign capital, most of it Chinese, is financing the “stimulus.” Mr. Obama is spending money so fast there is no way to pay it back without sever economic pain. To make things worse, Mr. Obama is spending money on “stimulus” plans that penalize manufacturing America with tougher standards to protect the environment until there will be no private sector business left. Let us hope that the Obama hold outs will wake up to the fact that Mr. Obama’s spending isn’t working . His primary goals are: 1. To redistribute and redirect money from people who have earned it to people and projects he prefers to have the money and; 2. To direct the money into organizations and projects that will enhance his and his party’s chances for re-election. Keep the Free-market populist movement alive. Work to recruit more to the cause of winning elections in 2010 and taking back a government for the people. A copy of the East Valley RWF newsletter "The Voice" is available for download.
