MAY 3, 2010 MAGGIE LOCKRIDGE RN ![]() Founder and President of Iraq Star helping our active soldiers and veterans on a national basis. Maggie Lockridge was born Margaret Breason in Springsfield, Vermont. She was an industrial nurse at the General Motors Futurama Pavilion during the World's Fair of 1964-1965 in Flushing, New York and worked in the operating room of Sloan Memorial Cancer Research Hospital in New York City. In 1993 Maggie opened Chantique with a financial partner. Chantique offered its services to the patients of more than sixty cosmetic surgeons. In May 2005 Maggie sold Chantique. In February 2007 Maggie watched a Bob Woodruff's special on television. Bob was the journalist who received a traumatic brain injury while covering Iraq. He took his viewers into the VA hospitals and it was apparent that the aesthetics of their wounds were not being addressed. Shrapnel was being left in faces and the scars of 2nd degree burns were left to heal on their own, leaving unsightly scars. That's when Maggie founded "Iraq Star". Its primary objective is "Not to let Iraq and Afghanistan wars permanently disfigure young lives". Iraq Star currently has 225 Board certified surgeons in 42 States, volunteering their skills and surgicenters and feeling honored to do so. http://www.iraqstar.org/ DR.
